Skills Needed:

  • A person with a love of our Lord Jesus and a heart for serving others.
  • Physical strength and dexterity required to safely move and position rounds and split firewood.

Other:

Each Splitter is encouraged (but not required) to recruit a team consisting of an Assistant and at least one Mover.

It is desirable for this team of three or more to schedule to work together at the woodlot.

If the team has more than one qualified Splitter, they should choose one to be the Lead Splitter. The Lead (or only) Splitter will be responsible for the work of the whole team. Typically the splitter role will alternate among the team Splitters.

The rate limiting step of the woodlot processing will normally be the log splitter, so the Splitter Team should strive to keep it running constantly. This can be aided by multiple qualified Splitter team members.

If there are multiple log splitters available, each may be run by a separate Splitting Team working independently; however, they should agree on which team has the Lead Splitter to coordinate work and make sure that all work is done safely.
